What We Do

Asphalt grinding — also called pavement milling — removes the top layer of asphalt using a rotating drum with carbide cutting teeth. The result is a clean, profiled surface ready for new asphalt overlay, seal coat, or base repair without full removal of the existing pavement structure.

DSI handles asphalt grinding for parking lot resurfacing prep, road repair, grade corrections, utility trench restoration, and anywhere failing asphalt surface needs to be stripped back to a sound base layer. Ground material is loaded directly into trucks for haul-off.

Common Questions
What depth can you grind to?
Standard grinding depth is 1–4 inches depending on the existing surface and project requirements. Deeper cuts for full-depth reclamation are a different scope — call to discuss your specific situation.
What happens to the ground asphalt material?
Ground material (RAP — reclaimed asphalt pavement) is loaded directly into haul trucks during the grinding operation and removed from site. DSI coordinates haul-off as part of the scope.
Do you grind right up to curbs and walls?
Grinding machines get within a few inches of curbs and walls. Hand grinding or saw cutting can address tight edges where the drum can't reach — confirm requirements when you call.
Can you grind a parking lot in phases to keep it open?
Yes. Phased grinding to keep traffic moving through portions of a lot is standard practice. Coordinate the phasing with your GC or property manager and DSI will schedule accordingly.
